Sri Lanka: MSF Responds to Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands

MSF is supporting displaced families in Sri Lanka’s central highlands by addressing urgent and ongoing needs. Our response focuses on three key areas:

Mental Health & Psychosocial Support

  • Addressing psychological distress among displaced populations who have lost homes, livelihoods, and loved ones.
  • Training local volunteers to facilitate community healing and resilience-building.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WATSAN)

  • Establishing clean water access points to prevent waterborne diseases.
  • Setting up emergency sanitation facilities, including latrines, shower areas, and handwashing points.

Essential Supplies Distribution

  • Supporting affected families with relief items, including blankets, warm clothing, 250 maternity kits, and 400 dignity kits in Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, and Badulla districts.
