At Government Women’s College, Nawa Kadal, Clinical Psychologist Farhana Yaseen led an insightful and interactive discussion, focusing on the importance of recognizing mental health challenges within the community. The session highlighted the need to address stigma surrounding mental health, encouraging participants to engage in open conversations and seek help when needed. By debunking common misconceptions and emphasizing the significant role mental health plays in overall well-being, the session empowered attendees to prioritize mental health care.

Recognizing the importance of early intervention, the Doctors Without Borders India/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) team also visited Government Upper Primary School, Zeisbal Lam, where they conducted a session tailored for students and educators. The discussion centered on equipping participants with the tools to identify early signs of mental health issues and the importance of seeking timely support.
Women-focused mental health awareness session ICDS Centre in Chopan Mohalla
Doctors Without Borders India/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) mental health facilitators held a specialized session at the ICDS Centre in Chopan Mohalla, aimed at women facing economic and social challenges. The session focused on stress management and coping mechanisms, providing practical strategies to navigate the pressures of daily life. By creating a safe space for open dialogue, MSF empowered women to share their experiences and learn effective ways to manage their mental health.

To further extend their outreach, MSF collaborated with the Department of Psychology to host an impactful session at the Government Degree College auditorium. The event brought together students and faculty to address prevalent mental health myths, break down stigma, and foster a deeper understanding of mental health and well-being. Through active engagement and meaningful discussions, MSF encouraged participants to become advocates for mental health awareness within their own communities.
“Access to services: mental health in catastrophes and emergencies” with RedFM
Tayibah, Mental Health Supervisor from Doctors Without Borders India/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Kashmir project, joined RJ Rayees on Red FM to discuss the importance of mental health and the impactful work MSF has been doing in the region. From providing counseling services in District Hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centers to conducting community awareness programs, MSF is dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and fostering resilience within communities. Tayibah emphasized the theme of WMHD 2025, “Access to services: mental health in catastrophes and emergencies,” highlighting how disasters—whether natural or man-made—affect emotional and psychological well-being alongside physical health.
She highlighted the significance of early mental health support in helping individuals and communities recover and rebuild stronger. MSF continues to make mental health services accessible and supportive for all, because when people heal, entire communities thrive.
