Film: Access to the Danger Zone (2012)
Duration: 70 minutes
Directed by Eddie Gregoor & Peter Casaer
Narrated by Daniel Day-Lewis
Synopsis: Access to the Danger Zone is a film about victims of war and their need for humanitarian aid. MSF works to provide medical aid and help save lives in conflict-hit zones, and these strategies are explored in this documentary through their work in war zones such as Afghanistan, Somalia, and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It provides a traumatic look at the challenges faced by the medical team and logisticians in delivering humanitarian aid in armed conflicts.
Visiting several sites of violence in the modern world, the film effectively portrays the dangers faced by humanitarian and non-governmental organisations seeking to offer assistance to victims and refugees, as well as the problems involved in mixing humanitarian and political/military missions.
