Since 2001, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has been committed to providing free counselling services in Kashmir, India. Our teams are actively engaged in hospitals across five key districts: Baramulla, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Sopore. In a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health, we have developed a groundbreaking 5-pillar concept aimed at making mental health care both accessible and integrated within the community.
The 5-Pillar Approach:
- Face-to-Face Counselling: Personalized support tailored to individual needs.
- Community-Based Approach: Bringing mental health care directly to the heart of communities.
- Mobile Response Team (MRT): Rapid, flexible response to emerging mental health needs.
- Raise Awareness: Educating communities to destigmatize mental health issues.
- Discussions & Training with Ministry of Health Staff: Enhancing skills and knowledge among health professionals.
This collaborative effort is transforming how mental health services are delivered, ensuring they reach those who need them most. We invite you to watch the video showcasing our dedicated team members on the ground and witness the profound impact of our work.
