In Mali, access to healthcare remains severely disrupted in several areas affected by security, climate, and logistical constraints. In the Kayes region, these movement challenges have direct consequences for access to health centres, medicines, and emergency care. 

Since 29 July, in collaboration with the Regional Health Directorate, MSF teams have supported a measles response in the Mahina health area. Through this intervention, our team vaccinated around 12,000 children against measles. 

During this mission, teams also provided primary healthcare consultations, distributed more than 9,200 litres of water to people stranded at the Senegal River crossing in the Bafoulabé health district, and assisted 45 households — 432 people — with non-food item kits in the Séro Diamanou community, in the Kayes health district. 

In the coming weeks, MSF plans to strengthen its medical support in the Kayes region, particularly through vaccination, nutrition, and health promotion activities, while continuing to assess medico-humanitarian needs in other parts of Mali.
