We all have felt the impact of COVID-19 in different forms. It has claimed millions of lives, disrupted our ability to access the essential services, and changed the way we live. At the same time, the devastating knock-on effects of the pandemic have left many without lifesaving medical assistance. MSF teams working around the world have often struggled to respond both to the direct consequences of COVID-19 and to other medical emergencies while dealing with restrictions on travel and impacts on essential medical supplies. During these times, we met health workers and people in different communities of Latin America, Europe and Africa that have told us how the pandemic is affecting their daily lives. |

Neglected Tropical Diseases Day |
|
COVID-19 was probably the most talked-about disease of 2020. But what about the rest? Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) like Chagas, kala azar, snakebites, noma and others affect over 1.5 billion people worldwide. Despite much progress, NTDs continue to claim hundreds of thousands of lives every year. Ahead of the Neglected Tropical Diseases Day, MSF released a report ‘Overcoming neglect’ calling for an improved global response to NTDs, better access to diagnosis and safe, effective treatment and care for patients.
