India has surpassed the 5,000,000 mark of people infected by the coronavirus. Maharashtra has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country and two in three of these were in Mumbai. With a large migrant population, Mumbai’s informal and extremely crowded settlements have very limited possibility of social distancing. This makes it extremely challenging to reduce the escalation of COVID-19 infection in slums like M-East ward in Mumbai. MSF teams are working in the area with the Ministry of Health providing aid to patients and health education to people with limited access to medical care.

After multiple fires in Moria refugee camp, thousands of people have been forced to sleep in the streets with almost no medical assistance and sanitation facilities. European states are sending aid but this is not enough.
