Throughout the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, one of the biggest challenges faced by tuberculosis patients is stigma. Experiencing stigma and discrimination make it harder for TB patients to cope with long durations of treatment.
The book 'Hamari Awaaz' is the result of the stories of stigma shared by nine women with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). They participated in a photovoice study conducted at the MSF clinic in Mumbai. With the hope of initiating a dialogue around the issue of TB stigma, we presented this study and the book at the 51st Union World Conference on Lung Health.
