Across the world, researchers, pharma corporations and governments are working to develop vaccines to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. However, pharma monopolies and patents can become obstacles making vaccines inaccessible to people living in low and middle-income countries like India.
In a landmark move in early October, India and South Africa made a formal request to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to allow countries to choose to suspend or not to enforce all patents during the pandemic on any COVID-19 related medicines, vaccines, and other health tools, until global herd immunity is reached.
We are calling on all governments to support this game-changing step.

World AIDS Day |

Palliative care for HIV is not easily accessible in India. Since January 2019, MSF has been providing comprehensive care to people with advanced HIV in Bihar. The team at our facility also conducted a study on lived experiences and perceptions of palliative care among patients and their families to make the care more effective. This year at MSF Scientific Days: Asia, Mohit Nair, Qualitative Research Expert shared findings from the study. To watch the recordings of both days, click on the link mentioned in the description.

Step Up For TB |
|
In 2019, 1.4 million people globally died because of tuberculosis. These deaths were preventable. The 'Step Up for TB' report – by MSF and Stop TB Partnership - analyzed policies for tackling TB in 37 high-burden countries and found that many countries still use outdated and ineffective policies, practices, and tools to diagnose and treat TB.
